Q: Is my snowmobile covered under my house insurance policy while it is parked in the garage?
A: No. A separate policy must always be written for snowmobiles and motorcycles. These are considered automobiles and must be insured on an automobile insurance policy.
Q: What are discounts offered by insurance companies?
A: Most insurance companies will offer the following discounts: claims free, age discount, loyalty discount, dual policy discount, non smokers discount, new home, monitored alarm discount, and mortgage free discount. Be sure your broker is aware if you qualify for a discount and you do not see this shown on your policy. Discounts vary from 5 - 15% although some companies may cap the total discount allowed.
Q: I am on the monthly payment plan and my withdrawal is 4 days from now. Can I change it?
A: Unfortunately, when the policy is issued on the monthly payment plan, the amount or date of the withdrawal cannot be altered usually without reasonable time for the insurance company to notify the banking institution. In some cases this can take as much as 10 - 14 days depending on the system the insurance company uses to notify the bank of upcoming withdrawals.
